Our philosophy is to provide an educational environment that promotes success.

Belief

Our belief is that each individual is unique and is capable of learning in the appropriate environment.

Learning Environment

Our learning environment stresses growth in the following areas:

  1. Intellectual - To think logically and to reason independently which includes self direction
  2. Societal - The belief in dignity and worth of each person
  3. Educational - The belief that education shall provide for growth in communication skills (reading, speaking, listening, and writing)
  4. Economic and Occupational Competence - Training that is broad and prepares for the effective use of communication and mathematical skills
  5. Physical - Progress towards good physical, mental and emotionally health and the development of aesthetic values and growth in creative interests

West Memorial Academy's philosophy is a belief that excellence in education is best achieved by maintaining high standards, by providing students with teachers and therapists of the highest quality. We also believe that appropriate social skills are an integral part in becoming successful in life.

Therapists provide dynamic programs for developing social skills that round out the education of the students -- we call this program the Social Skills Program.
